ROBOMOW RC304u Review
The Robomow RC304u is a connected robot mower for yards up to 500m², composed of up to 3 sub-zones or 2 separate zones. The RC304 robot mower is a medium-range model of the Robomow brand, whose efficiency and ease of use will make it your best friend for maintaining your lawn.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Good Build Quality
- Strong Blades for Cutting Heavier Grass
- Long Life Battery (10 Years)
- EDGE Cutting System
Cons
- Expensive
- Could have Wi-fi rather than just Bluetooth
The Robomow RC304u is a very elegant looking machine. At first glance, it is very different from a lot of other automatic mowers. With its long slender curved body, it has much nicer than some of the other box on wheels models that are available online these days.
With its array of features like the cut-to-edge feature and its long life, it will serve you well for many years.
It is not the quietest model but on eco mode, it’s still has a decent sound level of just 64dB. But this is a small trade-off as the solid blades give the mower some more power for the more challenging parts of the lawn.
Features
Better cut quality
Its patented Grassyccling blade has been treated to be particularly resistant. The first mowing of the season therefore poses no problem for him; tall grass is not an obstacle for the RC304.
Its powerful cutting system and lithium batteries allow the robotic lawnmower RC304 to finish the job much faster than robotic lawnmowers. Recharges in just 50 to 70 minutes!
EDGE system
Robomow RC304 is the only robotic mower, with the others in the RS range, which can cut the grass beyond the width of its wheels. This means its special edge mode allows it to cover lawn edges much better than other models on the market. Customers have said that this is a great feature and that it does live up to the claims made by Robomow.
ECO Mode
Eco mode is a low power cutting mode that allows the mower to run quieter and for a longer period. This just means that the mower lowers the speed of the cutting blade to save power and make the cutting quieter. It can also extend the time that the mower will spend cutting.
Battery
These mowers use lithium iron phosphate batteries rather than the standard of a lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery. The primary benefit of this is the overall life of the battery. Not its single charge life, that will be like other lithium-ion batteries, but its total lifespan is greater. The overall life of these batteries can be up to 10 years. Meaning that your mower will happily be mowing away for many years to come.
Rain Sensor
The mower also has an integrated rain sensor. This means that it will only mow when there are good conditions so that you get the best cut on your lawn.
Solid 3-point star blades
The Robomow RC304u comes with a 3-pointed star blade rather than smaller razor blades on a spindle. Meaning that the mower can cut through heavier grass and that the blades are more durable and will have a longer life than others.
Build Quality
The Robomow RC304u has always made good quality products and this one is nothing different. It has a well-designed body and very sturdy design, while also being very nimble with its wheel arrangement on with the single rotating wheel on the front. The body has a very solid feel to it.
Drawbacks
Limited connectivity
This model does not come with Wi-Fi meaning that it has no smart home integration. It does however still have Bluetooth and uses the Robomow 2.0 app so you will get all the functionality.
Brushed not Brushless motors
This is not that big of an issue but is worth mentioning. Brushed DC motors are not as reliable as brushless ones do not have parts that wear out over time like brushed ones do. This just means that the brushless ones are more efficient, usually quieter, and will last longer.
